Service unto the Lord

Romans 1vs 9-12

“For God is my witness, whom I serve with my spirit in the gospel of His Son, that without ceasing I make mention of you always in my prayers,

10 making request if, by some means, now at last I may find a way in the will of God to come to you.

11 For I long to see you, that I may impart to you some spiritual gift, so that you may be established-

12 that is, that I may be encouraged together with you by the mutual faith both of you and me.”

Serving the Lord is commitment.

Serving the Lord is loyalty.

Serving the Lord is accountability.

Often times, believers want to serve the Lord but do not want to be committed.

They do not want to be held accountable or responsible for roles or things.

They want to just do what they ‘feel like’ doing par time.

They want to only do/participate/engage when it is convenient for them.

However, one fact we must know is that service unto to the Lord is commitment, selflessness and most times, never convenient.

Romans 12vs 11

“not lagging in diligence, fervent in spirit, serving the Lord;”

When people serve or are assigned responsibilities in the body of Christ and they see that it is taking too much of them- they forget what they are supplying, they forget they are meeting a need and necessity is laid on them to deliver, they only see the efforts they are putting in. They see the expectations before them and the demands that it poses on them and they just stop giving their best.

However, in doing more, refusing to give up, serving regardless of the inconvenience, keeping in mind that it is unto the Lord-

There lies the training of the Spirit!

John 6vs 66-69

“From this time many of his disciples turned back and no longer followed him.

67 “You do not want to leave too, do you?” Jesus asked the Twelve.

68 Simon Peter answered him, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life. 69 We have come to believe and to know that you are the Holy One of God.”

Jesus has just taught and some of his disciples thought it was too hard a teaching!

Some left him and turned back from following, and he asked the remaining,

“Do you not want to leave too…”

When you stay where God has placed you, serving in the good, the not so good, and the difficult times, you do not do it unto man, you are training yourself!

In that, is the training of the spirit.

Colossians 3vs 23

“Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters,”

You may say, “You want to serve the Lord, I want to be in the Will of God for my life”

It comes with a price.

The question is are you ready to pay the price?

Colossians 3vs 23

Whatever you do, do as unto the Lord.

We don’t do things because we ‘feel’ like doing it. We serve the Lord because we love Him.

God’s Work on earth is carried out by and through men.

Service to the Lord is borne out of a consecrated heart, a true appraisal of all that Christ ahas done for us, hence, we serve by doing his work on earth.

Remember, the will of God is that all men will come to the knowledge of the saving Grace of God-

1Timothy 2:4

Hence, our service is to ensure that the will of the Father is done on earth in and through us.

How then do we serve?

**In our worship

**In our act of prayer

**In meeting other people’s needs

**In our love walk

The believer is a man of service. We are called to serve.

2corinthians 5vs18-19

Service in the body of Christ.

Hence we must serve with our heart knowing that we are pleasing our Father.
